Did you know…?
- Lisbon City Council offers free mammogram screenings for women under 50 years old who live in Lisbon.
Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers in Portugal, and its incidence among younger women has been increasing. Early identification of breast changes through a mammogram is essential for successful treatment, allowing the detection of very small tumours that cannot be felt through palpation. This leads to less invasive treatments and a higher life expectancy.
If you are between 40 and 49 years old and live in Lisbon, you should call 800 910 155 (toll‑free) to schedule your exam. Check all the information here.
For women living outside Lisbon, visit the website of the Portuguese League Against Cancer to find information on how and when mammograms are carried out in your municipality.
It is essential that your identification data (name, address, phone number, email) are up to date at your Health Unit/Health Centre, as they will be used during the appointment process.
